INTERSTATES WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT SEWAGE COLLECTION SYSTEM PROJECTS
CONTRACT 1 – DISTRICT AREA
CONTRACT 2 – ROUTE 89 CORRIDOR
Smith-Rowe was low bidder in April of 2015 for the Surry County Board of Commissioners for the District Area and Route 89 Corridor Project for the amount of roughly $4.5 million. Items of work include: 30,800 lf of Sanitary Sewer Pipe, 87 each Manholes, 32,400 lf of Force mains, 1740 lf of Directional and Standard Bores, 67 Service Connections, and 2 Pump Stations.
The placement of this line of sanitary sewer was deemed necessary to serve the residents along Hwy 89, North Surry High School, Gentry Middle School, and many businesses. It also gets sewer service all the way West of Mt. Airy to I-74 & I-77, which should give a much needed boost to growth in the area.
Work has started on the project and as of December 2015, several thousand feet of line has been laid. Work is scheduled to be complete in July of 2016.
